Tohatsu outboards: performance and reliability

The story of “To-hatsu” (a contraction of “Tokyo Engine” in Japanese) began in the 1920s with the development of Japan’s first-ever small-scale petrol engine. In 1956, the company introduced its first 1.5-hp two-stroke outboard motor. Since then, Tohatsu has specialised in the development and manufacture of high-performance, high-reliability two-stroke outboard engines for commercial applications.

Four-stroke outboards for pleasure craft and yachts

Tohatsu’s four-stroke outboard engines are particularly popular on pleasure craft and yachts. They combine performance and fuel efficiency with modern design features that cater for the toughest operating conditions. Quality and reliability are the key hallmarks of all 2.5- to 50-hp four-stroke outboards from Tohatsu.

Outboard engines from Tohatsu and Honda: Japanese innovation

In the 60- to 250-hp class, Tohatsu has joined forces with Honda – one of the world’s most innovative engine manufacturers. Combining a Honda engine platform with a new exterior design, these models extend the Tohatsu outboard series into the upper horsepower range.
